Tomato Cage Christmas Topiary Trees

I just have to share this idea with you! It’s too good not to! I originally saw these tomato cage trees on Pinterest and since I had all the materials, I knew I was going to try making them. I wasn’t quite sure how they would turn out so I didn’t take enough pictures for a tutorial with pictures, but I will give you a great link to a tutorial in case you want to try making them yourself. Topiary trees at the store can be pricey! I love the look but not the cost. I had tomato cages left from my garden and I love repurposing items so I knew this was a project for me. You just need a few basic items……

What you need;
Tomato cages
Strands of garland
Ribbon, lights, bows, decorations of your choice
Duct tape

How to make them;
I wanted to put my trees in flower pots to give them more height, but they will stand alone if you leave the largest ring in tact. Decide if you want them to stand alone or go into a flower pot. If they are going in a flower pot then remove the largest ring from the tomato cage and that is now the bottom of your tree. Stake the bottom into your flower pot and secure on the inside of the flower pot with duct tape. If they aren’t going in a flower pot then start here. Next, duct tape the top of the tree together to form one point (this is formerly the bottom of the tomato cage when used in a garden). Start wrapping the cage from top to bottom with garland. I used a mix of wired garland and soft pre-lit garland (not sure of it’s technical name but there’s no wire running through it). I used one strand of each. Once the tree is starting to take form and completely wrapped in garland, wrap it in lights and adjust any bare spots. Next decorate the tree how you wish. I used a big poinsetta flower on top of each tree and I wrapped each tree in a wide ribbon and used a different ribbon to cascade down the tree. Duct tape any loose ribbon or secure anything that could blow away. Lastly I added a few shiny ornaments and voila here’s my FREE Tomato Cage Christmas Topiary Tree!

Here’s a look at both of them next to my front door. Simple, yet elegant and my favorite part, FREE!!!!

Here’s another blog with a great tutorial with step by step pictures.

Product Spotlight – Rodan + Fields

I’m so excited to share with you my own personal business as my second product spotlight feature on my blog. I recently partnered with the same doctors who created the multi-billion dollar brand Proactiv. Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields are now doing for aging what they did for acne, but that’s not all, they are also helping entrepreneurs build successful home based businesses. Let me tell you a little about my new business with Rodan + Fields and how I got started…….

I have suffered from sensitive skin all of my life and in my early twenties I developed a condition called dermatitis. It was an unsightly red, bumpy and irritated rash around my nose and nothing my primary doctor or two different dermatologists gave me was helping. Hundreds of dollars were wasted on products that only made my condition worse, and then I was introduced to the products from Rodan + Fields. Since the products come with a 60 day empty bottle money back guarantee, I decided to try the SOOTHE line. I had nothing to loose, but so much to gain, and boy did I gain. Not only did my skin clear up and has stayed clear, but I am now partnering with those same doctors that cleared up with my skin without ever seeing me to do the same for others.

You see, Rodan + Fields products offer clinical results without ever seeing a doctor or dermatologist. Our products are specifically designed to treat specific skin conditions that people suffer from like sensitive skin, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, fine lines, wrinkles, crows feet, dark circles, baggy or puffy eyes, sun damage, age spots, melasma, pregnancy mask, acne, post acne scaring, blemishes and so much more. We also offer great general skin care products like moisturizer, microdermabrasion paste, chap stick, make up removing cloths, mineral peptides and more. We all know someone who is suffering from a skin issue or condition that they would like to change. I can help give you a prescription for change for your skin.

Since I love the products and have been looking for a way to supplement my income to start saving for retirement and for my children’s college tuition, I saw partnering with the Doctor’s as a great opportunity to do just that. This business has helped give me the financial freedom I was looking for and has helped me start putting money aside for the future. I can help you do that too, just ask me how.

Carrot Zucchini Cupcakes

Hi ya’ll! I made these cupcakes with the last zucchini I picked from our garden and I’m just now getting around to sharing the recipe with you. Now I want them again, guess I’m going to have to buy a zucchini to make them this time. My husband raved over these cupcakes, said they were some of the best he ever had. I have to agree, I didn’t even think they needed the frosting, however, I didn’t complain about the frosting either! Either way they are moist, full of flavor and simply delicious! Not a fan of cream cheese frosting, well then skip it and eat them like a muffin.
